One year ago today

One year ago today I woke up at 4 a.m to my water breaking. I ran to the bathroom wondering why my water insisted on breaking at four in the morning and 15 days early. I was actually thrilled because I had been miserable for weeks. I woke Will up and the first thing he said, in a panicked voice was, " okay okay...what do we do now?!" I grabbed the bag, he grabbed Hunter and headed off to drop Hunter off at our friends house. When we got to the hospital the nurse asked me if I'm sure my water broke. "Um, yeah, it definitely broke" She checked just to make sure I didn't pee myself and mistake it for a ton of water gushing out. Apparently people get these two things mixed up?
It is routine at any doctor, but especially military doctors, to fill out all the necessary paper work before proceeding. I swear if I had been pushing they wouldn't have stopped asking those dumb questions. After the paper work was filled out around 4:45, she asked me if I am in any pain. I was in a lot of pain, but I was comparing it to Hunter's labor (which I had no meds) so I told her it wasn't too bad. That was a mistake because the next thing she said was, "okay, well then I'm not going to check you" What?! I was trying to explain to her that I have really quick labors and I think she needs to check me. She reluctanly checked me and said that I needed to move to the labor room because I am at a 7. Oh yeah, walking to the labor room was fun...you know, in pain, with amneotic fluid dripping down my legs. Everything else was pretty much a blur. I remember telling the nurse I needed to push while she was putting in my IV and she said I can't push yet because I still had a little cervix left and it could hurt the baby...later I realized they just weren't ready for me to push. The nurse still couldn't get my IV in and I told her I really need to push...hurry...give me pain meds...get this thing out of me...you guys are NOT freaking listening I NEED TO PUSH(according to Will I didn't use that nice of words though)

Finally they said I could push. The doctor came in just in time to see the nurse deliver Austin.
Austin was born on May 27th, 2007 at 5:04 a.m.

Hunter: 4 hours
Austin: 1 hour
Baby #3: possibly on my kitchen floor

I can't believe Austin is one. I know all parents say this, but seriously where did the time go? I want to cry because I feel like I somehow missed his first year. I was looking back at old pictures and realized he was there, and I was there...it just went by too fast.

Austins birthday went really well. Will works nights tonight, so it worked well having him home during the day. Austin opened his presents, with the help of big brother, ate cake, then crashed. It was all too much for him!

I think you are right about the kitchen floor with the next baby, wow that is some fast work. You are going to need to check in to the hospital about 38 weeks and just be near a doctor the whole time.

The first year is the best and the quickest. Both good and bad. Just think only a few more months until nursery.

K so I have to admit I am one of those people that mistook pee for my water breaking....not my finest moment but I was so desperate to have the twins that I starting hallucinating.
Anyway..Happy Birthday Austin. He is so cute and your lego cakes turned out very cute.
